3. (2.4.1 Conclusions) Based on the information in the story, which conclusion can the reader draw about Jabon’s readiness to pilot the ship alone? Include information from the story in your answer.

Yes, Jabon is ready to pilot a ship alone.

Jabon is  a pilot, he knows the rules  because he nodded yes when his dad asked him "You remember the rules, right?" He "set up the grid pattern for examining different asteroids for their mineral potential."

Because Jabon knows the rules and how to set up for his job if finding minerals, he is ready to pilot the ship alone.

How would you score these responses?  1 Not ready 2 Almost There 3 Meets Standard 4 Surpasses Standard

1. (2.3.1 Cause/Effect) What is the most likely reason that the ghost image appeared? Provide two details from the story in your answer.

Because Jabon was playing rock music and drumming along. He didn’t notice that he turned on the communications and was broadcasting sounds. Then the drumming was being broadcast so the sound came back and and a ghostly image appeared. That’s how the ghost image appeared --from Jabon drumming to rock music.

2 (2.3.1 Similar / Different) What are two similarities/ differences between Jabon and his dad? Include information from the story in your answer.

Jabon’s dad was protective and Jabon wasn’t. Also Jabon’s dad was responsible and Jabon wasn’t. Jabon’s dad was protective when he said, “Don’t wait for strange, even something mildly unusual happens will warrant waking me.” Jabon started listening to music and drumming away and not being responsible for watching the instruments. Jabon’s dad was responsible when he asked, “Do you remember the rules, right?” Jabon wasn’t responsible when he thought, “Blah, Blah, Woof, Woof,” and then listened to music. Those are the two differences: Jabon’s dad was protective and responsible while Jabon wasn’t.

3(2.4.1 Conclusions) Based on the information in the story, which conclusion can the reader draw about Jabon’s readiness to pilot the ship alone? Include information from the story in your answer.

Jabon wasn’t really ready to pilot the ship alone yet because he listens to music when he’s supposed to be looking for rocks. Also, he doesn’t know what to do in certain times like when he called his dad, “Uh Dad? You said call you if anything unusual happens. We skipped right past that to really strange.” That’s why I think that Jabon isn’t ready to pilot the ship alone.

4. (2.4.5 Generalize) Based on the information in the story, what generalization or insight can the reader make about young people being left in charge?Include information from the story in your answer.

Mostly all the time young people are usually doing something they aren’t supposed to be doing and it leads to trouble. For instance, Jabon wasn’t supposed to be listening to music while looking for rocks but he did and he accidentally broadcast it so now his dad has to fix his problem, the ghost iimage. That’s why most all the time young people aren’t doing what their supposed to be doing and shouldn’t be left in charge.
