Good readers imagine what they read. They create images in their minds of:
Fiction: - characters -- what they look like, what they act like, and how they interact with each other
- setting -- where, when, and the social conditions (how people behave towards one another)
- problem -- what is the problem and who has the problem
- plot -- the events as they occur
- connections -- how are these connected and what do they remind me of
Nonfiction - main idea -- what is the topic
- details -- how do the parts relate to the whole -- what image do I see
- big picture -- imagine this idea at work
- vocabulary -- what does it look like
